Bowing of the Knees

At small group last night we talked about a passage in Ephesians that I've read many times before.  But what struck me was the fact that these were things Paul was praying for other people.  What a prayer!  And as one of our group members pointed out, this was Paul's prayer for all the believers in Ephesus--his prayer for believers like me.  

What I also realized is that this prayer of Paul's is the prayer of my heart for my children.  For grace.  For strength to comprehend love.  For power.  I want all of these things for them (and for myself!).  And I am grateful that he provided the words to sum it up.  I intend to use it often when praying for my kids.

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
