Vulnerability: More on the Nearness of God to the Vulnerable

I happened upon this article via a friend's facebook post and found it highly relevant to the current series. Do click on the text below and read it.  Here's a teaser for you...

"[T]he Lord comes to Elijah in a gentle blowing. God meets Elijah at the very place of his despair, not with correction or reprimand, not with a "buck up and get going" or a "keep your chin up" but with a grace as gentle as a soft breeze.

Like Elijah, there are days when we feel at the height of heights, assured of all answers, victorious in our daily battles, maybe even confident of God's saving activity all around. But there are also days when we need permission to feel badly. Despair is our only friend and the obstacles and challenges of life conspire against faith, hope, and love. It is deeply encouraging to see that even in this place, God draws near with gentleness."

Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
